The Alpine Rescue was founded in 1954 and in the following 68 years it has improved thanks to the specialization of the operating personnel (Alpine Guides, technicians, operators, pilots), and the introduction of civilian helicopters (first in the Aosta Valley in 1984), search and rescue dogs, drones, and ARVA (avalanche transceivers). The SYL model is born with the intent of optimizing search and rescue operations which, despite the excellent operational level achieved, are still exposed to two critical variables that often affect their effectiveness and speed: knowledge of the injured person's condition and the difficulty of identifying a missing person in a coma or deceased.
